Our Betway Sportsbook Review will assess how good the Sportsbook at Betway is for welcome bonuses, free bets, live football streaming, quality of betting odds, cricket betting markets and much more. So let’s get stuck in.
Betway has been around since 2006, which makes it sort of middle-of-the-road in terms of age. It arrived a bit later on the scene than the likes of Ladbrokes and William Hill, who went online in the late noughties but considerably earlier than the newest Sportsbooks who seem to be popping up every few weeks. With all due respect to them, we here at Betting Maestro like betting companies who have been around for at least three or four years and have experience on their side from learning what works for them. And just as crucially, what doesn’t.
If the Betway name sounds familiar it’s probably because you’ve heard it courtesy of being a sponsor of such sporting events as the Premier League of Darts, the Cheltenham horseracing festival and the Aintree racecourse, including being a betting partner of the Grand National. As far as sports teams go, it sponsors both the men and women’s West Indies cricket teams, plus football clubs Anderlecht, Alaves and most prominent of all, West Ham.
Not that sponsoring sports events and teams is the be-all-and-end-all but those are some pretty high-profile names and they will generally only work with partners who enjoy good reputations. So that’s certainly a good start for Betway.
Products: In addition to Betway Sportsbook there’s also Betway Casino, Betway Vegas, Betway Bingo and Betway Poker.
Languages: English, Swedish, German, Norwegian, French, Danish, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Greek.
Betway Sportsbook Review
Sportsbook Welcome Offer: £/Euros 30 in Free Bets
You’ll get up to £/Euros 30 in Free Bets when you’re a new Betway customer and make your first deposit using a Credit/Debit card or are using your Paypal account. Here’s how it works:
- Deposit up to £30.
- Your 100% deposit up to that amount will be credited to you as a bonus.
- The bonus will be released in the form of free bets as soon as you’ve wagered the amount. So if your first deposit was for £30, that’s how much you need to wager before you can use your free bets.
- If you’re placing the bet as a single, it must be at odds of at least 1.75. If it’s as an each-way bet, the place part must be at odds of at least 1.4. If it’s a system bet each selection must be at 1.4 or greater. The bets can be on any sporting event you like.
The really good thing about this offer is that there are no wagering requirements, which is pretty rare. That means if your bets win, the winnings are yours in cash. Although you should be aware that Betway won’t pay you out the value of your stake as well. In other words, you get to keep the profit, not the stake.
Ongoing sports bonuses
In addition to your welcome offer, there’s plenty more to look forward to. Betway will often give you price boosts on particular high-profile football games, double your winnings on Super League Rugby games if your team wins comfortably and give you money-back on selected horseraces, such as those from Galway.
Betway are also very interested in E-Sports Betting and actually sponsor a team called the Ninjas in Pijamas! Yes, we know. The first part of the name is pretty intimidating, the second part not so much. But they run a regular promo where’ll get your money back if just one of the legs of your 5-fold E-Sports acca lets you down. You know, so you always have a ‘fighting’ chance of getting your money back.
Betway Sportsbook (4.5)
Variety of markets/specials
Probably not quite up there with the likes of the Betfair Sportsbook in terms of sheer numbers of markets but everything you’d expect to be covered, certainly is. So we’re talking match odds, plenty of goals markets, Asian Handicaps, goalscorers, corners and a fair few more.
Like we say, they probably don’t offer a betting market on every and any event that could ever happen in a football match but it’s more than enough. Besides, you can always request your own (see below).
Football Betting Odds
If their odds were a team in the Champions League, they’d be Juventus. Very rarely winning it/going absolute best price but always highly competitive/among the best odds on offer.
You’ll rarely check their price and be disappointed, though again, if price means everything to you then on the main football markets you may have to turn to the Betfair Exchange. The flipside of that being that liquidity might be an issue on the Exchange. But sticking with Betway… you’ll always get a fair deal.
Request your own football markets
This option is available for those who fancy it. They call it Betyourway markets. Whoever came up with that name: buy them a drink. The Betting Maestro likes it. Simply tweet your request to @betway, using the hashtag #BetYourWay, and they’ll get it priced up.
They also have the CashOut option on selected markets. The jury is still somewhat out regarding whether it’s worth doing the Cashout but at least it’s there if you want it.
- Variety of Cricket Markets/Specials
There are plenty of different cricket betting markets available anyway, especially on televised games, including specials like man-of-the-match.
But that’s not an issue anyway because whatever they don’t have, you can ask for. For example, Betting Maestro requested odds on three or more batsmen getting to 50 in a T20 Blast game and were duly offered 2.5. So not only do they lay you the bet, but the odds were decent as well.
- Cricket Betting Odds
Not worth adding anything to what we said already about the football odds. They’re pretty competitive, occasionally going best price, but it’s more of a case of always offering odds that are up there with the more generous not the most generous. Clear as mud?
Live Betting (4.5)
On the one hand, they haven’t gone out and recruited the best Developers in Silicone Valley to produce a Live Betting product that will make you sit up and go ‘wow, that’s a feast for the eyes’.
But then again, this is live sports betting, not the latest Playstation game or the most recent Michael Bay film.
The Live Betting product is a good one, it lets you clearly see what you’re doing and shows you the Cash Out icon on the markets that have that function.
Live Football Streaming (5.0)
Compared to what else is out there, it’s actually extremely good. Plenty of football matches available to watch while you bet on the games in Live Betting including Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, MLS and the Russian Premier League. There’s also ATP and WTA tennis, snooker, E-Sports, handball and ice hockey if it’s not all about the football for you.
And lots of horseracing, too. You’ll be able to see exactly which races they’re showing right away and you just need to have a tiny bet on the race in order to watch it.
The Livestreaming service is available to customers from the UK, Ireland and Sweden.
Customer Service (5.0)
To use a racing analogy, very often Sportsbooks fall at the last hurdle, like a knackered horse on soft ground after 15 tough fences. In other words, they do everything right in terms of getting customers in and offering a good product but if anything goes wrong, Customer Service isn’t great at sorting it.
Not the case here. It’s efficient, quick and the Agents are all really helpful. Big plus, makes a big difference.
Call on 0808 238 9841 which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can also email them at [email protected] too.
Money Matters (5.0)
Lots of different options in terms of getting your money in and getting your money out. And they’re quicker than most in terms of allowing you to get it out, which makes a huge difference.

For the record, this section doesn’t count towards the final rating Betway will get. Some companies have a blog with betting tips, others don’t. If you don’t, you don’t get penalised.
The content and tips are…ok. All a bit top-line and basic but if you’re just interested in the background to football, racing, tennis, cricket, golf etc at least they’ll add a bit of colour.
If it’s a world-class racing tipster you want then Nick Hardman is your man.
Betting Maestro’s Last Note:
The important thing in life is that you learn from your mistakes and improve over the years. And Betway have certainly done that, which is why they passed the Betway Sportsbook Review with flying colours and they’re on our list of recommended partners. And as we started by saying, proof of that is how there are top brands like the Darts Premier League, the Grand National and West Ham eager to work with them as betting partners.
There were a few things missing when they opened their doors back in 2006 but they’ve got better and better over time.
Their cricket and football products offer good odds, a nice variety of markets, the site is clean and easy to use and they have a good Live Betting product on their hands that lacks the glitz and glamour of other sites but is no less effective and impressive. And if Live Streaming is your thing, there’s plenty of live action to watch that way, too.
Where they also score well is in terms of their #BetYourWay service. Other companies promise to price up anything and everything and then don’t. Betway certainly do.
Just one of many things we like about them.
Betway also has an excellent online Casino and Live Casino so when you sign up to Betway, you can enjoy all the best Casino games including online Roulette, online Blackjack, Baccarat, Video Poker and of course, lots and lots of Casino slots made by all the top Software providers in the industry.
