CPL 2019 betting has the Trinbago Knight Riders as the favourites, available at 2.7 with Betfair Sportsbook.
It’s an understandable price based on the bookies understandably being cautious about a team who ticks most boxes.
CPL 2018 Betting Favourites: Trinbago Knight Riders @ 2.7 with Betfair
Have they achieved success in the past? Yes. Assuming we’re not going to draw a distinction between the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel who won it in 2015 and the Trinbago Knight Riders, who took it in 2017 and 2018 (same team, just a different name), they’re the most successful team in the Caribbean Premier League by some distance. The simple maths tells you they’ve won the CPL on three out of six editions.
Can they be relied on in a final? Absolutely. They’ve won all three finals they’ve made.

Do they have a strong squad? Arguably the strongest in light of their local players being so good. In Sunil Narine, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard they have three players who have been as sought after on the T20 franchise circuit as anyone.
Dinesh Ramdin has been around forever although maybe his best days are behind him while Darren Bravo is a class act as well, although perhaps not regarded as a T20 specialist.
Colin Munro was the tournament’s leading runscorer last year and should enjoy himself again in a format where he’s more comfortable, while Seekuge Prasanna can be relied upon for some tight legspin and big hits down the order. James Neeesham, one of New Zealand’s heroes at the World Cup, adds balance with his accurate seam bowling and mature batting at five or six.
Skipper Dwayne Bravo may miss a significant chunk of the tournament after injuring his finger in practice. Trinbago lose in Bravo a steady captain who was at the helm when they won the last two editions, a potent batsman and a brilliant fielder. More than anything, he’s an excellent death bowler.
Kieron Pollard takes over as captain and even though he’s from Trinidad, this is his first season at the franchise so has big shoes to fill.
Do they have too many all-rounders in the side? Given Sunil Narine is likely to open the batting, that’s four of them in the side with Neesham, Prasanna and Pollard also classed as all-rounders.
In terms of specialist bowlers, they’re looking a bit on the thin side and have been deprived of their best death bowler. Last year Australian Fawad Alem was their top wicket-taker but he’s moved on.
Munro will miss the first three games of the season with Lendl Simmons his replacement.
Possible XI: Ramdin, Narine, Munro, Darren Bravo, Pollard, Amir Jangoo, Neesham, Searles, Pierre, Seekkuge, Hasnain

CPL 2019 Betting Tip:
At those CPL 2019 odds we think it’s worth swerving Trinbago. Bravo is a big loss and the balance of the side doesn’t look ideal.

Jamaica Tallawahs- 4.5 with Betfair Sportsbook
They’ve made too many changes to last year’s team with 12 players leaving including steady hand Ross Taylor. Andre Russell is brilliant but their bowling looks a bit green.
Barbados Tridents- 5.0 with Betfair Sportsbook
They have in Jason Holder an excellent captain and extremely capable all-rounder and their Top Six looks strong with Holder joined by the likes of Alex Hales and Shai Hope. Sandeep Lamicchane is dangerous with his spin bowling but might just be lacking something in terms of pace bowling.
St Lucia Zouks- 7.5 with Betfair Sportsbook
Another side who can rely on an uber-experienced captain in Darren Sammy. Alongside Thisara Perera he’ll provide the middle-order power hitting. Lasith Malinga can be deadly with the ball and a third Sri Lankan- Niroshan Dickwella- is a good addition with his unorthodox shots. Good side but maybe lacking a gun batsman in the Top 4.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots- 10.0 with Betfair Sportsbook
Just too many ‘daisies’ in the team (some days they do, some days they don’t) such as Mohmmad Hafeez, Elvin Lewis and Sheldon Cottrell. And those are the good players because some of the others are pretty average.
CPL 2019 Betting: Who’s the bet?
Guyana Amazon Warriors- 6.0 with Betfair Sportsbook and 10CRIC
Last team standing is the Guayana Amazon Warriors. They’re nothing if not consistent. They’ve made four finals in six editions and are ‘consistent’ enough to lose all four. (That’s a joke).
But what isn’t a joke is the nice balance they have to their side. Nicolas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer are the next big things as far as West Indies middle-order batting goes and Guyana have them both.
Ben Laughlin is the all-time leading wicket-taker in the Big Bash, testament to his experience. Shoaib Malik is right up there with one of the most experienced T20 players in the world while Shadab Khan joins his Pakistani team-mate in the side with canny legspin and some big-hitting.
Completing the list of positives is skipper Chris Green, a canny skipper, wily bowler and useful batsman.
They’ve shown year after year that they can make the final so at the odds it’s not that big a gamble to hope that his time they can actually pull it off in the game that really matters. They’re the CPL 2019 betting tip.
Possible XI: Hetmyer, Hemraj, Pooran, Shoaib, King, Paul, Shadab, Rutherford, Green, Permaul, Laughlin
