About Big Bash Tips
Betting Maestro provides Big Bash tips on the Big Bash, Australia’s premier T20 domestic competition.
Due to its somewhat unpredictable nature and quick matches, typically lasting just three hours, Big Bash betting is now one of the cricket events that cricket punters most like to bet on.
First taking place in 2011-12, it’s now onto its eighth edition (2018/19) and takes place during the Australian summer, which of course is Europe’s winter.
Since the start it’s always been contested by the same eight teams. Melbourne has two representatives, the Melbourne Stars and the Melbourne Renegades. As does Sydney, who boasts the Sydney Sixers and the Sydney Thunder. The other four teams come from the major Australian cricketing cities and are: the Perth scorchers, the Hobart Hurricanes, the Brisbane Heat and the Adelaide Strikers.
Each Big Bash team is allowed two overseas players to play alongside nine Australian-qualified ones and high profile overseas stars over the years have included: Kevin Pietersen, Jacques Kallis, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Chris Gayle, Kumar Sangakarra, Rashid Khan, Jos Buttler and Brendon McCullum.
One of the better Big Bash tips over the years has been the Perth Scorchers, who have made the semi-finals in every edition to date and won it three times, in addition to making a further two finals. Next best are the Sydney Sixers who have won it once and made it to a further two finals. The Melbourne Renegades have the dubious honour of being the only side never to have a Big Bash final.
Another one of the more successful Big Bash tips every season has been to back aggressive Australian opening batsmen to be Big Bash top runscorer with the likes of D’Arcy Short, Chris Lynn and Ben Dunk all having won the award over the past few seasons.
The tournament starts with a group stage. Prior to Big Bash 8 teams played some of the other teams twice and others just once but since 2018/19 all teams play everyone else, home and away. First then plays fourth in the first semi-final and second plays third in the second Big Bash semi-final, before the big final.
The Perth Scorchers’ Michael Klinger is the record runscorer in the Big Bash while Ben Laughlin, who represented the Strikers and Hurricanes, is the leading wicket-taker.
All major betting companies offer Big Bash betting on all matches in addition to outright markets such as winner, top runscorer and top bowler and here at Betting Maestro you can get Big Bash tips on all of those markets.
