About Caribbean Premier League Tips

The Caribbean Premier League, also known as the CPL, is a T20 franchise tournament held every year during the month of September in the Caribbean.

It’s always made up of just six teams, one from each of the major cricketing islands from the West Indies and follows the IPL format of the Top 4 qualifying with the Top 2 having two chances to make the final.

The six teams currently contesting the CPL are: Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Guyana, Barbados and Jamaica. The St Lucia Zouks were absent for a couple of years but return to replace the St Lucia Stars in 2019.

The most successful team in Caribbean Premier League history are the Trinbago Knight Riders and the Jamaica Tallawhs, each with two wins. The Barbados Tridents are the only other team top have won it, when they beat Guyana back in 2014. Trinbago actually have one additional win to those two but they were then called the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel when that happened. Trinbago’s team full of local stars have also won the last two editions of the CPL under the captaincy of Dwayne Bravo.

The CPL has seen all the major West Indies stars play in it over the years including Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Dwayne and Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Lendl Simmons and Evin Lewis.

Overseas players to have featured over the years in the CPL include Brendon McCullum, Colin Munro, James Neesham, Lasith Malinga, Kumar Sangakkara and Shoaib Malik.

With its fast pace, often short boundaries and Caribbean party atmosphere, it makes for some compelling viewing as far as T20 cricket goes and also perfect for CPL betting on all matches.
